Fibs

This
post:
fib variations
You can read
older ones here and here
They’re great for slowing down a busy mind.

When
sluggish
words resist
my weak attempts
I know it’s time to stop
and keep watch for the small winter blooms.

Kids
watching
Pippi Longstocking
Oatmeal for dinner
The cat sings with impatience
I rewrite that elevator speech again and again.

Sitting
right
here, now
are 24 pounds
of goodness in my lap
How can I ignore her to write fibs?

These
myths
are persistent
with shallow roots
If we harvest them tonight
tomorrow there will be mish-mash for breakfast.

Forever
asking
who’s there
and what’s this
and why that and where
Leaving just one question: Is is bathtime yet?

Somewhere
women
are crooning
around a fire
Somewhere right at this moment
an elephant weeps, for reasons we’ll never understand.

This was great fun to read.
And yes, it has a way of getting down to the essence. Love it.

Oh, and I have something for you over at my blog. :)

I love that. I also meant to tell you I loved your post about the cups. i do the same thing – and also with cups. Anise’s cups sometimes trigger parenting doubts in me, and bring up my guilt. But you are right, they are just cups.

“Somewhere an elephant weeps…” What made you think of that?? I’m going to have to try fibbing. Thanks for the inspiration. And congrats on the Bella award.

    Universal tears!

I bought a book once called “When Elephants Weep” about the emotional lives of animals. Don’t think I read the whole thing, but the title alone left an impression.

    Thanks

    for comments
    They makes blogging
    have some purpose beyond me
make me chuckle, inhale, exhale, and keep going.
