One Thought

One thought.
An association. A memory. A fear. A feeling.
One thought.
A rabbit hole. A descent. A falling. A failing.
One thought.
An entire history crashes down, crushes the innocent.
One thought.
A disappearing act. A nonexistent thinker.
One thought.
A recognition. A look around the room, the body.
One thought.
A listener. A compassionate ear. A witness. A watcher.
One thought.
A stay of execution. Stay. Don’t pull the trigger.
One thought.
A chance to return. Come back. Be empirical. Sniff the rain.
You could be anywhere in the world.
One thought.
Catch your breath. Let it go again.
One moment at a time.
A practice. From terrified to fearless and back again.

This is what happens when I stay away for a while–it’s like Christmas coming back with many lovely things. I don’t know why you posted it and if it represents something you’re going through or if you just liked the message or the sound of it, but I like it too–like several things in this place.

    Glad you’re still here.
