Happy Birthday, Blog

Each one is a gift, no doubt,
mysteriously placed in your waking hand
or set upon your forehead
moments before you open your eyes.
Today begins cold and bright,
the ground heavy with snow
and the thick masonry of ice,
the sun glinting off the turrets of clouds.
Through the calm eye of the window
everything is in its place
but so precariously
this day might be resting somehow
on the one before it,
all the days of the past stacked high
like the impossible tower of dishes
entertainers used to build on stage.
No wonder you find yourself
perched on the top of a tall ladder
hoping to add one more.
Just another Wednesday
you whisper,
then holding your breath,
place this cup on yesterday’s saucer
without the slightest clink.

– Billy Collins

Today marks 1,095 days (aka three years) since I began writing, practicing here.

Happy birthday, bullseye, baby! Thanks for being here, for holding this space where I get to show up, to connect, to take off all of my different hats and just be. As Greg always says to the girls: you’re growing up so well.

Happy Birthday! Our blogs are the same age — I think my blog will be three on the 15th. Our blogs were in baby playgroup together! And now they’re walking and talking! What will be next? :)

I love the poem you shared – a lovely and clever idea!

Happy Blog Birthday! What an appropriate poem..and with the photo on the side and can just FEEL and HEAR the delicate clinks of each gift set upon one another. What a beautiful way to celebrate this precious day!
