One of those mornings

It has got to be one
one of those mornings
when five minutes of writing
is five minutes of writing
not not enough
but just right
the perfect amount of time
to check in
to practice.

It has got to be one
one of those mornings
when five minutes of sitting
is five minutes of sitting
not not enough
but just right
the perfect amount of time
to check in,
to breathe out dreams.

It has got to be one
one of those mornings
when a little snuggle
is a little snuggle
not not enough
but just right
the perfect amount of time
to check in,
to breathe in love.

And yes,
it has got to be one
one of those mornings
when you tend
to your life
in the dark:
empty the dishwasher
plate by plate
spoon by spoon
hang the mugs
and dry the dripping
sippy cups
gather the laundry
and begin folding
as a new week
unfolds.

Again, you nailed it. I am on my 3rd load of laundry of the day, about the start some ironing. Dust mopped the whole downstairs. No complaints – this is the house I love and the life I love.

    Not not enough.
No, it is more than enough.
    Every single bit of it.
    At least for right now…
until I feel the urge to run away from home again.

    breathe, gail, breathe.
    now go iron.
    slowly. calmly.

Thanks for this inspiration as we move into the week. We’re on spring break here so while there’s playing and late breakfasts and hikes, there is also laundry and dish washing and sitting and writing and snuggling!
