blessing the boats

(at St. Mary’s)

may the tide
that is entering even now
the lip of our understanding
carry you out
beyond the face of fear
may you kiss
the wind then turn from it
certain that it will
love your back may you
open your eyes to water
water waving forever
and may you in your innocence
sail through this to that

~ Lucille Clifton

With such gratitude to my dear friend Dawn
for sending this to me today from across the pond.

    That is absolutely beautiful…
(Jena – I was at The Mother’s Plunge yesterday, and saw you from across the room but because I was overwhelmed and in a bit of shell shock didn’t get a chance to meet many except those that were right around me! But I was told that you had a beautiful blog… and found you from Karen’s site. Am so glad to be reading you now… and glad to have shared yesterday…)
