High Point

After work and camp, snacks and shoulder rides,

we threw off our shoes and ran up the sidewalk

to the neighbor’s trampoline–

weightless tumbles, giddy with height and giggling buoyant

we jumped each other high into the humid air,

hair flying, limbs laughing, puppy piling breathless

falling barefoot bodies, free.
