Stay for Good

You might not believe me
because my back is to you
as I write this, but my heart
is so open that it must be
radiating backwards
from inside the cage
of my healing lungs
and shining like a night sun
in the direction of you
you there watching
Law and Order, while
to the west, a young woman
sings about the unimaginable
and I shiver, the crown
of my head alight
as the last daylight goes
somewhere I visit
but never stay for good

I would say this is a near perfect poem. Send it in somewhere. Or just treasure it (what do the poetry journals know—-you may have to be their nouveau to get published). But this one is special. Not one extra word. (No fat!) The way it should be. Wow! I fall in love with your words (and you, too).
