The Roar Sessions: Bryonie Wise

BryonieTin Can
by Bryonie Wise

It’s been too long
since I picked up
this tin can attached
to the world’s longest string
to see if
she is on the other end

Can you return
to a place
that hasn’t been visited
for many moons
& pray
that there is anything
left behind … a sign, maybe?

Is there anything
we can’t possibly forgive
of the ones we love dearly …
ourselves even, too?

And is it worth it,
this risk we take
to learn to love bigger?

I searched for awhile
to see if she left a clue
& then reluctantly,
with not a crumb in sight,
I folded my hope
into a paper crane
& hung it from the highest branch
to protect the remains
of my vulnerable heart

there are no words
that can possibly
touch the place
where the hurt grows from

There is only quiet
to honor what remains

I caught a glimpse
of her tonight
& I think in my surprise,
her howl cracked open my memory,
& all the times we laughed
came tumbling out,
knocking sound
into the silent space
between us

I remembered
what it felt like
to find a sacred heart
that could speak shorthand,
alit with wit & wonder

And so, if per chance
the stars above
might carry this forth,
I send a roar
through this tin can
attached by
the world’s longest string,
in hopes it rattles
loud enough for
her to hear

Bryonie1An artist, heart alchemist & moon lover, Bryonie’s life is rooted in the belief that when we come from a place of love, anything is possible.

Her own practice of living has taught her how essential movement, breath & creative expression are for our ability to heal our tender hearts; she speaks fluent lion & her poetic teachings are infused with all sorts of medicine sprinkled down from the moon & stars above.

When not teaching yoga or writing her heart to the bone, she can be found frolicking in the sunshine with her camera & her dog, Winston, living her yoga.

Stay in the loop of all her magical happenings, connect with her on FacebookInstagram—& maybe even add her first book, HEART ROAR: A Book of Tiny Prayers to your collection.
